  • 1 frozen banana (chopped up)
  • 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
  • 2 tbsp natural peanut butter
  •  tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

When it comes to blenders unless you're just blender a scoop or two of protein powder into water or milk it's worth purchasing yourself a decent blender.
Home-made mass gainer shakes are the most cost-effective and convenient method of getting in a plethora of calories to meet your macronutrients when you're bulking.

These smoothies are loaded full of different ingredients, many of which the cheap blenders I've purchased in the past have struggled with.
I went through 3 generic blenders before I decided to do some research and get the best blender for protein shakes.

Do you need to spend hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on a Vitamix or Blendtec to make your protein shakes, juices or bulking smoothies?
Absoultely not. Although a good blender will last you a lifetime.

The Requirements

When looking for a new blender, specifically for blending the ingredients in our protein shakes, bulking smoothies and home-made juices I ensure I check out the following...


A blender doesn’t need to be a powerhouse in order to mix up a protein shake. Anything higher than 200 watts should work just fine, assuming the design puts that power to use effectively. Now, the one caveat to that rule is if you want crushed ice in your drinks. That’ll require something a little more powerful – typically in the 800 watt range, since smaller blenders simply won’t have the necessary power.


While you certainly can blend protein shakes in a massive commercial rig, that doesn’t mean you should. Small, relatively inexpensive personal blenders are the ideal choice, since many of them include cup attachments that allow you to start drinking your shake the moment you’re finished blending it. Of course, if you already do have a standard countertop blender, you should just use that – there’s no need to buy another one just for protein shakes.

Easy To Use & Clean

We don't need 40 different blending modes, 17 different status buttons or anything of that nature.

We just need to be able to blend our ingredients into a smooth, easy to drink protein shake or bulking smoothie that'll help us reach our goals.
An auto blend, a manual pulsing mode and an easy to clean container/unit are all we need.

Buying a complex blender may sound like a good idea at the time but they can be more trouble than it's worth and even leave some users in a state of paralysis by analysis... they can't figure out how to use their blender so they don't... defeating the purpose of your purchase.
