Today, weight loss pills account for well over 1.5 billion dollars of the 61 billion dollar weight loss industry. No wonder there’s thousands of different brands, pills and marketing campaigns in full force at any one point in time.
It’s a lucrative market, preying on the gullible and unaware to fork over quite often in excess of $100 for a bottle of pills that will do little more than act as a placebo in their weight loss journey, the only thing these pill peddlers will make lighter is your wallet.
The Acai Berry and Raspberry Ketones are supposedly winners in the weight loss world, but do weight loss pills work?
Let’s take a look…
This is what the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine had to say about Acai Berry and weight loss:
“There is no definitive scientific evidence based on studies in humans to support the use of acai berry for any health-related purpose.
“No independent studies have been published in peer-reviewed journals that substantiate claims that acai supplements alone promote rapid weight loss. Researchers who investigated the safety profile of an acai-fortified juice in animals observed that there were no body weight changes in rats given the juice compared with controls.”
So surely Raspberry Ketones will help me shed that stubborn fat then?
An 8 week study performed of humans containing Raspberry Ketones suggested fat loss was consistent over the period of 8 weeks however Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid and Chromium were also present – therefore I deem these results to be inconclusive.
So what supplements can I take to aid my weight loss?
Fortunately enough there are a couple of supplements that I highly recommend you take when attempting to lose weight, these supplements are tried and true – no BS ingredients, no hype, just results…
However please keep in mind these will *Aid* weight loss, to initiate weight loss you will need to be in a calorie deficit, i.e. consuming fewer calories than your body requires to maintain its current weight.
Weight loss Winner #1 – Caffeine
Caffeine and weight loss go hand in hand. Caffeine is able to speed up the body’s metabolic rate in order increase the rate at which calories are burned. This isn’t the only benefit of caffeine though! It will also improve your strength, aid muscular endurance and anaerobic performance.
Should you choose to add caffeine to your supplementation plan it is vital to ensure it is not abused. If large dosages are consumed too often you’ll begin to build a tolerance quickly, caffeine withdrawals will also be prevalent.
When initiating a cutting phase I personally consume 200mg of caffeine in morning followed by an additional 200mg of caffeine before my workout.

Weight Loss Winner #2 – Green Tea Extract
Green tea extract and weight loss – green tea extract has been the subject of many studies, all of which suggest that green tea extract indeed does work. An increase in exercise induced fat loss is also one of the weight loss traits of green tea extract.

As the above study states, green tea extract and caffeine are mutually beneficial. Caffeine is known to increase catecholamine levels, green tea extract aids by extending the period of time they stay in the blood.

As you can see both Green Tea Extract and Caffeine can aid you on your weight loss journey, these supplements have stood the test of time, have appropriate studies to prove their effectiveness and come in at the right price.
Be sure to ditch all the other ‘fat loss pills’ that leave you with nothing but false promises and a lighter wallet.
