The Failure Fallacy

The truth about failure that often goes umentioned...

When we think of failure we instantly think negative.

"You were too slow"

"You were too weak"

"You aren't as good as those that've succeeded"

But that's not the truth about failure, the media loves to portray individuals as instantly successful, that they've got the midas touch.

They're foreign to failure.

Listen to a reporter talk about Bill Gates on the news, you'll find they only mention his assets and achievements since he's 'made it'.

The private jet.

The house with 50 bedrooms.

They won't mention the 10 dark years, the decade of time he spent essentially off the grid, working and failing day in day out.

He didn't take a day off for 10 years and he certainly didn't succeed with his first attempt.

He encountered failure.

Instead of seeing this failure as a dead end he saw failure as a report card.

Here's where you're coming up short, unless you want to see the same result again (which forms the definition of insanity) it's time to improve, pivot and make the necessary adjustments.

Failure builds resilience.

The man who has seen nothing but success after success is in a dangerous position.

Success becomes expected.

He becomes comfortable, he eases off on the gas and begins to coast.

He begins to expect the same success while putting in less effort.

Constant success breeds expectation, expectation.

Expectations are dangerous.

Don't buy into the failure fallacy, failure is necessary.

Failure should fuel you.

WD-40 Was Fueled By Failure

WD-40 actually stands for ‘Water Displacement – 40th Attempt’

WD-40 cleared over $300 million dollars in sales last year

Well worth the 39 failed attempts to create the product don’t you think?

Success does not, and will not come overnight.

Success is a process, not an event

It takes time

The worst thing is what happens when you fold to failure.

You’ll lay awake in your bed at night thinking about this missed opportunities when you didn’t man up or see the thing through that’s when those dreaded two words begin to populate your mind…

“What If?”

You can’t answer that question, you’ll never know because you never took action.

I’m SJ. I’m a fitness enthusiast and published author. I transformed my body from a skinny fat 135lbs with 18% body fat to a solid 192lbs at 8% body fat. I became qualified in a field I was passionate about. I founded several online businesses that allow me to pursue ideas and projects in my life that I am passionate about without having to constantly worry about money. I published several eBooks explaining the training and dieting techniques I used to achieve the body I have today. I learnt a plethora of new information on dieting and fitness by reading and applying what I read, to find out what does work and what doesn’t work, because as I’m sure you’ve noticed the health and fitness industry is full of non-sense claims and BS. I found out what was true and what worked for me and applied that knowledge. And you bet I had fun during the whole process.
