Dessert doesn't have to derail your diet.
I've always had a sweet-spot for ice cream, I'd spend months dieting strictly and eventually give in to the cravings - resulting in eating thousands of calories of unhealthy ice cream - leaving me feeling sick, demotivated and ashamed of myself.

Many others take the other approach, deeming ice cream far more worthwhile than a shredded physique - so they don't even attempt to transform their body.

There's a happy medium though, high protein ice cream.

Whenever you're feeling like cheating on your diet or that you need dessert whip up some high protein ice cream... you'll satisfy your cravings (if you follow the recipes below it'll taste like the real deal) and you''ll still easily be able to work these calories and macronutrients into your diet!

There's no right or wrong way to make protein ice cream, the recipes below are the 5 I've had the most successful with and find the easiest to make.

Born Fitness Protein Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 12 scoops of protein powder
  • 2 tablespoons of almond butter
  • 2 oz of almond milk

Method:

Combine your protein powder and almond butter in a bowl.

whisk in your almond milk until you have a pudding-like substance.

Place in the freezer for 45 minutes until it resembles protein ice cream.

2 Ingredient Protein Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 500g of 2% Greek Yogurt
  • 1 scoop of peanut butter protein powder

Method:

Combine your greek yogurt and protein powder together in a bowl.

Place in freezer for an hour.

Remove from the freezer after an hour and give it a good mix with a fork.

Place back in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Remove from the freezer when you're ready to serve!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of ice
  • 1 scoop of peanut butter protein powder
  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
  • 2 tablespoons of chunky peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon of cacao nibs
  • 1 cup chocolate unsweetened almond milk

Method:

Place all ingredients in a high powered blender (e.g. Vitamix or Blendtec) for 30 seconds and process.

After 30 seconds remove your mixture and place into a bowl or container.

Stir with a fork briefly before placing in the freezer until you're ready to serve it up.

Vanilla Blueberry Protein Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 2 scoops of vanilla protein powder
  • 4 cups of blueberries (frozen)
  • 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Method:

Just like above...

Place all ingredients in a high powered blender (e.g. Vitamix or Blendtec) for 30 seconds and process.

After 30 seconds remove your mixture and place into a bowl or container.

Stir with a fork briefly before placing in the freezer until you're ready to serve it up.

Coco-Protein Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 packet stevia
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Method:

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until not a single clump remains.

Now, pour your mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid.

Add a 1/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk to a blender along with your frozen ice cubes, blend until your protein ice cream is at your desired texture.

Serve and enjoy!
