You can be as knowledgeable as you like about any particular subject, whether this be your health, nutrition, the United States legal system or how to grow the perfect Christmas tree.
You can literally find all the information you need about these subjects and millions more on the internet, in this day and age there really is no excuse for not having access to the information you’re seeking.
So now that you’ve got the information it’s time to set yourself some goals, very few people get as far as this step – writing down your goals on a piece of paper is a very powerful thing.
Writing down that you want to earn $5,000 a month or that you want to bench press 315lbs for 10 reps is great…
But did you know there’s 1 extra step?
You need to define your why.
Why do you want to earn $5,000 per month?
The mere principle of saying I want _____ will not motivate you enough to get out of bed at 5am to work on that project, it won’t motivate you to stay up late and it certainly won’t provide you with the driving force you need to see it through to the end during the tough times.
Perhaps you want to earn $5,000 per month so you can support your children and provide them with a stable future at a good school.
You don’t just want to get an ‘A’ on that upcoming exam, you want to get an ‘A’ on that upcoming exam so you’re able to get into the course of your choice next year, which will enable you to get the job you’ve always dreamed of – it all comes down to living a life of choice.
Chances are if you’re finding your lacking motivation to succeed or you’ve hit a plateau and are no longer moving forward you need to take a step back from your goals and define exactly why you are in pursuit of them.
Once you find your why you will have the motivation and the willpower to see it through to the end, regardless of the adversity you face along the way. You'll be prepared to burn your boats and never look back.
So, what’s your why? Let me know in the comments below!
