Occasionally we let the most trivial events and actions in our life get us down, whether this be a plateau in the gym, the result of a game or competition or a hiccup in a relationship.
At the end of the day we all need to realise that we are merely ants floating through space on a minute speck of dust. On a cosmic scale nothing in particular we say or do essentially holds much weight. I’m not saying this to make you feel insignificant, but instead to allow you to maximise your enjoyment by realising the preciousness of the opportunity you have been presented with.
That said, below are several methods I personally find the most affective to achieving happiness.
Focus
Find a task, goal or end state that you wish to master and focus on it with as much power as possible, this might be pulling a 400lb deadlift, lowering your body fat to 8% or getting a promotion at your current job – the nature of the goal is irrelevant, what is important however is that you focus on this task as intensely as possible. Happiness will come through the progress you make towards this, not the achievement of the end goal itself.
Accept
Accept what you can’t control, the second you comprehend and implement this into your life I guarantee you are on the route to happiness. In life things may go your way, but other times they may go bad or completely terrible – this is something we need to accept. There is always a silver lining and always a lesson to be learnt no matter how small it is, you just need to look for it and not get too caught up in the negativity of the situation at hand. The 80:20 rule applies here, 20% is what happens in your life, and the predominant 80% is how you react to these events. Accept yourself, accept others and accept events that occur regardless of whether they are in your control or not.
Forgive
Leave the past behind, don’t dwell. Regardless of what has happened rejoice that you are still alive and are blessed with the opportunity to make amends. If possible forgive others, but more importantly be sure to forgive yourself.
Express
Become a lion amongst sheep… don’t follow trends, instead make the executive decisionto set them. Be sure to express yourself and don’t hold back at all when the opportunity presents itself, realise how powerful you truly are ant manifest that power instead of copying others like a mindless drone. You will be going against the norm, it’s scary, it’s worth it.
Seek
Seek to use not only your emotion but also your logic when making important decisions. Quite often we get what is known as a ‘hunch’ which is right, but we don’t quite understand why or how we came to such decision. It is your job to find a way to tap into that, to combine the emotion and logic within your mind to become the ultimate version of yourself.
