Hyperbolic Time Chamber In Real Life

The Hyperbolic Time Chamber

If you've seen Dragonball Z then the Hyperbolic Time Chamber needs no introduction... in case you haven't let me give you the run down.

The Hyperbolic Time Chamber, also known as the room of spirit and time is a room that contains quarters to eat, sleep and remain sheltered... beyond these essentials the Hyperbolic Time Chamber is infinite. The further out into the infinite space you the denser the air becomes, the gravity within the chamber is different too.

Sounds like a productive place to train both physically and mentally, right?

It gets better.

One year in the chamber is equivalent to one day on earth.

When the Z Fighters Goku and Gohan enter the chamber they emerge 24 hours later (in earth time) but have amassed an entire year of training under their belt during this time.

New techniques.

Maturity.

Increased mental toughness.

A physique forged out of iron.

A years' worth of training in one day.

The thing is if the Z Fighters were outside of the chamber they wouldn't be able to replicate this training even in a full year.

There are too many external distractions, there are always things regardless of how big or small that'll slightly derail this work that requires the utmost focus.

The Next Best Thing To The Hyperbolic Time Chamber

As much as I wish the Hyperbolic Time Chamber were real it isn't and unfortunately it never will be, it was an intriguing concept created by an anime writer in the 1990s.

If the chamber did exist I'd use it without a doubt to not only continue to transform my physique, but also to become a Renaissance Man - mastering a number of different skills from the arts and music to knowledge of machinery.

I truly believe the closest we will get to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber is the time we have right now.
These weeks or months in isolation.

Think about it, almost all 'time wasting' (subjective) activities are cancelled for an indefinite amount of time...

You can't spend hours sitting at a coffee shop.

You can't religiously follow the basketball team you support.

You can't go to the movies.

You can't go on a date.

You can't chill with friends over a drink.

All you really can do is spend time at home and time exercising solo.

Now, you could waste this time binging NetFlix, but at the same time you could use this time on personal development, transforming yourself in isolation from an average guy to a Renaissance Man.

The premise of this article is that over the next few weeks we could achieve what would otherwise take months, it this isolation continues for a few months we can easily achieve a years worth of work.

Hence, we can turn our house or apartment into a real life hyperbolic time chamber...

Turn Your House/Apartment Into A Hyperbolic Time Chamber

Step 1

The first step to achieving this ultra-productive state in the comfort of your own home is to eliminate distractions, now for the most part COVID-19 has taken care of this for us - if you think you're going to become too tempted perhaps consider cancelling your NetFlix subscription or packing away your gaming consoles. Besides that there shouldn't be much in the way of distractions to slow us down.

Step 2

If you don't know what you want to achieve there's no way in hell you can achieve it.
Think about what you want to accomplish during this focused time - the key point here is ensuring you have a why for wanting to do X.

Motivation ebbs and flows from time to time and when it's lacking you need to know why you're spending so much time working on X.

There's no right or wrong reason, you must simply have a reason.

Step 3

Distractions are gone, our goals are set... now we must set our triggers.

A trigger is the event or thing that signifies that it's time to commence working on these goal(s).

For example, I want to drastically increase the volume of pull-ups I'm currently performing in order to see how many pull-ups I can perform in 24 hours on a specified date next month.

My trigger is brushing my teeth.

When I wake up in the early hours of the morning I stretch, drink a black coffee and then brush my teeth.
Once I pack my toothbrush away I know it's time to hit the pull-up bar and smash out my daily 100 dead hang pull-ups.

Step 4

Continue to set a different trigger for each habit/goal you implement into your daily routine.

Here are a few more of the triggers I use and their corresponding actions:

Finish brushing teeth = commence pull-ups.

Finish doing dishes after my carnivore breakfast = starting draft of daily blog post.

Finish showering in the evening = commence foam rolling and mobility work.

Once again, there is no right or wrong trigger, implement what works best for you.

Step 5

Continue to work away in your real life Hyperbolic Time Chamber and watch as you achieve weeks, months or years worth of progress in a fraction of the time.

I published several eBooks explaining the training and dieting techniques I used to achieve the body I have today. I learnt a plethora of new information on dieting and fitness by reading and applying what I read, to find out what does work and what doesn’t work, because as I’m sure you’ve noticed the health and fitness industry is full of non-sense claims and BS. I found out what was true and what worked for me and applied that knowledge. And you bet I had fun during the whole process.
