How To Kick Ass in 2015 (And Why Most Resolutions Fail)

Scott-132

Note: the above photo was taken 1~ week ago, I’ve got a ton of great fat loss content for you coming early 2015!

The new year is nearly upon us, gyms and supplement stores have already began to advertise their immense savings on memberships, fat burners and a plethora of other gimmicky products in an attempt to capitalize on the usual ‘I’m going to get in shape in the new year’ crowd.

Now, I’m not a huge believer in the whole ‘new year’s resolution’ thing – when I want to change something in my life or set out to achieve a goal I do so there and then, why not get a head start instead of waiting for the date on the calendar to reach January 1st?

That said, if you’re looking to make changes in your life, whether this be bulk up, burn fat, expand your social circle or the like I 100% support your quest for betterment. The thing is the majority of people that set out with these new year’s resolutions and goals fail miserably – perhaps not on the first day or the first week, but within a month or so they’ve already thrown in the towel.

Another venture abandoned, another hit to their ego.

Chances are these people are 100% capable of achieving their goals and resolutions (provided they are realistic) they simply didn’t set their resolutions correctly.

Here are the basic principles you need to follow in order to set goals & resolutions for 2015 that will stick:

Be Specific! Define Success Before You Chase It

Be specific with your goals and resolutions – instead of saying ‘I want to lose weight’ or ‘I want to build muscle’ be as specific as possible… you can’t obtain success if you don’t define it from day 1.

Here’s a few examples of specific, measurable goals/resolutions:

I want to gain 20lbs of lean muscle mass by August 1st, 2015

I want to reach 8% body fat by December 31st, 2015

This does not only apply to your health and fitness related goals, I recommend being specific for literally anything and everything you want to accomplish.

Want to clear 100K in revenue in 2015? This may sound monumental, but if you break down your overwhelming goals into smaller chunks they instantly seem more manageable and attainable:

Instead of I will make 100k in 2015 opt for  ‘I will make $273 per day’ (this is known as a DIG or Daily Income Goal, you can find out more about this in the finance section of Becoming A Lion Among Sheep).

Want to expand your social circle and meet a ton of new women?

How about:

I will go on 2 new dates per week (potentially meeting 104 new girls in a year!)

Plan Plan Plan

Have a to-do list, don’t fall into a trap of listing down 100 different tasks for each day – that’s counterproductive, instead place 2 – 4 important tasks on your to-do list each day that will take you CLOSER to reaching those goals.

Example of my to-do list for today (December 24th):

Train legs & abdominals

Fix 3 theme related issues on IgnoreLimits.com

Finish reading Confidence Hacks by David De Las Morenas

Queue up next batch of tasks for my Virtual Assistance team

Each of these tasks is in line with my goals:

I am continuing to build my physique and am focusing on increasing my front squat at this point in time.

My blog, IgnoreLimits is my #1 focus for 2015, although it looks good I want it to look THE BEST, a professional consultation identified several issues which I need to rectify in order to improve the aesthetics and performance of the blog.

Masculinity, confidence & overall self-improvement is a field that I have a continual thirst for knowledge in, David’s book is an informative read and I plan to polish it off today before writing up my summary.

Leveraging the skills and time of other people allows me to continue to build and accomplish more and more.

Oh and 1 More Thing….

Start now.

Don’t wait until January 1st… what difference does a change of calendar date honestly have to do with you achieving your goals?

Start right now.

I want you to do 1 thing TODAY that will bring you closer to your goals/resolution. Why delay another 5 or 6 days when you could get started now?

Stop eating junk food today, don’t wait until January 1st.

Want to get strong? Hit up a workout comprised of compound lifts before January 1st.

By starting today you’ll get a head start on the competition, and because you’re reading this I KNOW you want to be a winner.

Have a fantastic Christmas with your friends and family, don’t get too caught up on material possessions.

I became qualified in a field I was passionate about. I founded several online businesses that allow me to pursue ideas and projects in my life that I am passionate about without having to constantly worry about money. I published several eBooks explaining the training and dieting techniques I used to achieve the body I have today. I learnt a plethora of new information on dieting and fitness by reading and applying what I read, to find out what does work and what doesn’t work, because as I’m sure you’ve noticed the health and fitness industry is full of non-sense claims and BS. I found out what was true and what worked for me and applied that knowledge. And you bet I had fun during the whole process.
