Struggling to drag yourself to the gym? It's time to implement the Gym Only Shower Policy...

If there's one thing I've learnt over the last six years when it comes to gym motivation and getting in the right mindset to have a killer workout the key is to get your ass to the gym.
There are days when you just don’t feel like training, everyone has them.
It might last a day, a week or a month.
I go through spells generally a few days long where working out is one of my least favourite things – the funny thing is I have literally never regretted a workout – it just doesn’t happen. The release of endorphins and the feeling of knowing you’re making progress towards your goals while improving your health, mobility and well-being is intense.
But it's not until your amidst your workout that you remember that.
When you're at home on the couch you're debating whether you're going to go to the gym or not you're fighting a losing battle.
Just Get Moving
Put yourself in the position to workout.
As Woody Allen said [bctt tweet="“80% of Success Is Just Showing Up”" username="ignorelimitscom"]
You're probably thinking "that's easier said than done SJ, I can't bring myself to get up off the couch to get in my car to go to the gym"
You can get through your day without working out, you can kid yourself that you'll work out tomorrow for twice as long to make up for the blip in motivation today.
But we always overestimate our discipline in the future.
I got you.
That's where the gym only shower policy comes into play.
By chaining a desirable daily activity, such as showering to a task you're procrastinating with you'll be putting yourself in the position to get it done.
Do the work, get the reward.
Do the workout, get the shower.
No exceptions.
Rules Of The Gym Only Shower Policy
- No showers at home
- You can only shower at the gym
- You MUST shower at least once per day
- Already hit your weights and showered earlier in the day? Hit some abs, cardio or mobility
- Have a duration for your gym only shower policy (e.g. 1 month)
Seems a big extreme? You're right. It is.
But you're damn right it'll get you extreme results and forge iron will too.
