Check Out These Gym & Fitness NetFlix Documentaries
Looking for some inspirational or informative gym, health and fitness related documentaries to watch while you're in lockdown?
No worries, I recommend checking out the following documentaries on NetFlix... yes, there are quite a few more out there but to be honest quite a few are loaded with broscience or are misleading.
The following 5 documentaries contain equal parts motivation and information.
1 - Westside Vs. The World
A documentary that looks into the life of Louie Simmons and the group of outcasts that train at his world famous Westside Barbell gym.
"Rage. Competition. Pride. Inside thesewalls was a man who pushed boundaries to test the limits of physical strength."
Check it out here.
2 - Fightworld
Frank Grillo (actor and martial artist) travels the world, immersing himself in different fight cultures to understand their traditions and motivation.
This is a fascinating look into boxing, muay thai and a plethora of other martial arts mindsets.
There are 5 episodes of Fightworld which will take you from Thailand to Senegal, Israel and Myanmar.
Check it out here.
3 - Pumping Iron
If I could only pick one documentary to place on this list it would be Pumping Iron without a doubt, if you're a gym-goer or bodybuilding fan you need to watch this classic.
Pumping Iron follows Arnold on the road to his 6th title, Pumping Iron is humorous at times while also being extremely motivated as we get a glimpse into Arnold's laser-like focus as he trains and prepares for the show.
A classic documentary that displays Arnold in his prime along with the Golden Era of bodybuilding as a whole.
Check it out here.
4 - Bigger, Stronger, Faster*
Like it or not steroids are everywhere in professional sports.
Many turn a blind eye to this or remain in denial, meanwhile the documentary Bigger, Stronger, Faster* delves right in.
This documentary follows 3 brothers and their experiences, results and ramifications of steroid use while bodybuilding.
Every decision comes at a cost... Bigger, Stronger, Faster* explores those.

5 - Generation Iron
The 21st century take on the classic, Pumping Iron.
Generation Iron comes the road to Olympia for many of the modern day bodybuilding greats, from Branch Warren to Dennis Wolf (yes, Arnold makes an appearance again too!) and the sheer discipline and out of this world will required to attain a physique that can compete with the best.
I recommend watching Pumping Iron first and backing it up with Generation Iron... you'll see how training techniques and mindset as well as the physiques themselves have evolved from the Golden Era of bodybuilding to the modern day.
