With the vast majority of Perth's best walks being located in the Jarrahdale/Kalamunda/Mundaring area it's a breath of fresh air to find one of the best hiking trails in Perth up on the coast in the Northern suburbs.
In order to begin the ghost house trail you'll need to pay the national park entry fee to Yanchep National Park.
After parking your car in the allocated parking areas and walking on down into the park it's a matter of following the signs that direct you to the beginning of the Ghost House Trail, we followed the 'Wetlands Walk' for a kilometer or so before locating the starting point of the Ghost Trail.
If you've hiked a number of the walks in Perth Hills you'll find the Ghost House trail to be quite different - different terrain and scarsely scattered vegetation which is nice for a change of scenery.
Along the walk the main points of attraction you'll discover are a number of campsites, the remains of the old Ghost House, a few cave-like creveces, some shed/bunker style buildings, kangaroos, the side of the Yanchep golf course and if you're lucky (as we were!) a number of delightful bobtail lizards.
Be sure to slap on sunscreen before you head out on the trail as you're exposed to far more direct sunlight on this trail compared to the majority of others I've done in Perth (and you'll be out there for a while!).
After completing the Ghost Trail why not have a barbeque, coffee or drink at the Yanchep Tavern? The park is loaded with facilities to enjoy and make the most of 🙂
