Do You Have The Heart To Finish?

Do You Have The Heart To Finish?

I hear it every single day.

From friends, from family, from people writing in to the blog, from other gym-goers.

“I’m starting _______!”

This is always a range of things.

Starting a new diet.

Starting a new business.

Starting a new positive habit –  be it reading a book a week, journaling, taking cold showers daily or improving their flexibility.

The enthusiasm is immense.

But that generally doesn’t last long.

The beginning is easy.

It’s far from difficult to remain in a positive state of mind and continue to apply effort when you haven’t encountered any barriers, road blocks or naysayers.

If you’re able to see through an entire endeavour without any resistance you haven’t set your goal isn’t big enough and you will not feel that sense of satisfaction and accomplishment upon its completion.

The struggle is necessary.

To finish requires overcoming blocks and barriers.

To finish requires reviewing whether what you were doing when you started is still the best way forward, pivoting your actions and continuing to climb that uphill road to the finish.

The average person does not understand this.

I’m also writing this article to act as a reminder to myself… setting out to write a minimum of 1 article per day for a year in 2020 was easy on January 1st, January 2nd, January 3rd etc. and now here we are 6 days into March and the task has become harder.

I thought the further in I got the easier the task would become, I’d have that positive momentum behind me after writing 100,000 words.

That hasn’t quite been the case. Choosing unique topics that align with the message of Ignore Limits has been difficult.

But I will finish.

You must know that adversity and road blocks are going to meet you along the way regardless of your goal.

Welcome them and remind yourself…

The chump starts… the champion finishes.

Anyone can start.

Few will see things through.

Go through the fire and come out the other side with a feeling of accomplishment as one of the few who had the heart to finish.

Don’t be so quick to proclaim to everyone your new endeavour before you’ve seen it through.

I’m SJ. I’m a fitness enthusiast and published author. I transformed my body from a skinny fat 135lbs with 18% body fat to a solid 192lbs at 8% body fat. I became qualified in a field I was passionate about. I founded several online businesses that allow me to pursue ideas and projects in my life that I am passionate about without having to constantly worry about money. I published several eBooks explaining the training and dieting techniques I used to achieve the body I have today. I learnt a plethora of new information on dieting and fitness by reading and applying what I read, to find out what does work and what doesn’t work, because as I’m sure you’ve noticed the health and fitness industry is full of non-sense claims and BS. I found out what was true and what worked for me and applied that knowledge. And you bet I had fun during the whole process.
