No money? No worries! The following 2 methods can be used to create a ghetto pair of diy dumbbells.
Should you choose to create your own dumbbells proceed with caution while both making and training with them.
Soda Bottle DIY Dumbbells
Required Materials
- 2 soda bottles (2 litres each)
- 2 1″ diameter PVC pipe – 7″ in length
- 1 1″ diameter PVC pipe – 8″ in length
- 2 1″ PVC coupler
- Hot Glue
- Duct Tape
- Tools
- Utility knife
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
Instructions
Use scissors to cut a 1” in diameter hole through middle of both soda bottles.
Again, use your scissors to cut a second 1“ in diameter hole in the bottles exactly opposite the first hole.
Take your 7″ long piece of PVC and insert it through the bottle via the two holes evenly.
Repeat for your other bottle.
Use a hot glue gun on both sides of your bottle to secure the pipe fit.
Connect a PVC pipe extender on one end of each of the bottles.
Connect each bottle to either side of the 8″ long PVC piece this will become your handle.
Wrap the handle in duct tape and any additional padding of your choice for comfort.
Fill your bottles with sand or similar, 2 liters of sand weighs 8lbs.
At capacity this method will create a 16lb dumbbell.
