Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy (And How To ACTUALLY Be Happy)

Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy

The saying holds just as true today as it did when the 26th president of the United States spoke the line...

"Comparison is the thief of joy" - Theodore Roosevelt

I can GUARANTEE you that if you spend your days comparing what you have against others you'll never be content.

With carefully curated and manipulated images shoved in your face every time you logon to Instagram it's all too easy to get caught up in it.

"I'll be happy once I get a car that's better than ______'s"

"My bench press is solid but I wish I could bench as much as ______"

From job titles to income, material possessions, soft skills, strength, physical attributes...

You name it and we compare it.

We use others as a benchmark for where we'll finally find joy and happiness.

Little do we know these comparisons themselves are the destroyer of joy.

Turn The thief Into Inspiration

Instead of constantly comparing your attributes and possessions to those of others let's flip the switch.

See this as inspiration rather than allowing it to take the proverbial wind out of your sails.

It's possible.

I have no doubt in my mind that if you want that car in your driveway or that tropical vacation you can get it.

You've seen that others have attained it.

The individual with the fixed mindset does not see this to be the case.

You must cultivate a growth mindset.

If you want it you can have it.

You've just got to be willing to work harder than everybody else.

And if you truly want the thing you will put in the work.

Pop up, find some inspiration then get back down into the trenches.

Come back up when you've worked your way to that which you desire.

I’m SJ. I’m a fitness enthusiast and published author. I transformed my body from a skinny fat 135lbs with 18% body fat to a solid 192lbs at 8% body fat. I became qualified in a field I was passionate about. I founded several online businesses that allow me to pursue ideas and projects in my life that I am passionate about without having to constantly worry about money. I published several eBooks explaining the training and dieting techniques I used to achieve the body I have today. I learnt a plethora of new information on dieting and fitness by reading and applying what I read, to find out what does work and what doesn’t work, because as I’m sure you’ve noticed the health and fitness industry is full of non-sense claims and BS. I found out what was true and what worked for me and applied that knowledge. And you bet I had fun during the whole process.
