Building Momentum Amidst The COVID-19 Chaos

Chaos is a necessary prerequisite for change.

Your daily routine has likely been altered or is about to be altered.

Restaurants closing.

Gyms closing.

The shops being out of stock of many of the foods you'd normally buy.

All professional sport being cancelled.

Rather than starting to think negatively and get yourself down (and as a result implement additional bad habits!) see this as an opportunity.

An opportunity to get ahead.

An opportunity to improve your life.

If you spent hours watching sports day in day out this is a forced positive change.

Grab a book and learn how to build an online business. Here's a good start.

If you were a compulsive sports gambler this is a forced positive change.

Withdraw your money and close your account.

If you were eating too many processed foods this is a forced positive change.

I intended on testing out the carnivore diet at some stage this year and when I went to do my weekly food shopping I couldn't find blueberries, basmati rice, steel cut oats and a number of other essential items I use to regularly hit my macros. Instead of complaining and buying junk I opted to start my carnivore diet experiment.

The shops were loaded with free range eggs, butter, rib eye steaks and bacon. Everything I needed.

That was a week ago and to be honest I wish I started this experiment sooner, my body feels great... a number of niggling aches and pains have vanished (presumably due to reduced inflammation).

If you're in self isolation now you've got a ton of free time you didn't have before.

Use this to your advantage.

Learn things.

Write.

Focus on building things that'll be worth something or make you worth more in terms of new skill acquisition.

Yes, gyms being closed sucks but once again we can flip this situation and see it as a positive.

I thought benching 225lbs was an impressive feat of chest strength until I picked up Convict Conditioning and learnt how to perform one arm push-ups and a number of other advanced bodyweight exercise variations.

You can build immense strength and give your joints a bit of a break from pounding the iron by performing these bodyweight exercises that require zero equipment.

Implement new positive habits and take charge of your life amidst the chaos.

Or just stay at home in isolation rotting away with your negative habits.

Your future self will thank you if you opt for the former...

Stay Strong, SJ.

I’m SJ. I’m a fitness enthusiast and published author. I transformed my body from a skinny fat 135lbs with 18% body fat to a solid 192lbs at 8% body fat. I became qualified in a field I was passionate about. I founded several online businesses that allow me to pursue ideas and projects in my life that I am passionate about without having to constantly worry about money. I published several eBooks explaining the training and dieting techniques I used to achieve the body I have today. I learnt a plethora of new information on dieting and fitness by reading and applying what I read, to find out what does work and what doesn’t work, because as I’m sure you’ve noticed the health and fitness industry is full of non-sense claims and BS. I found out what was true and what worked for me and applied that knowledge. And you bet I had fun during the whole process.
