The #1 Way To Keep Yourself Motivated, Accountable & Achieve Your Fitness Goals

Motivation...
There are two types of motivation in this world, these are external motivation and internal motivation.

External motivation is a monetary reward or some other form of compensation for performing a task, like dangling a carrot in front of a horses mouth - It'll go but only for so long.

Internal motivation is just that, motivation that comes from within YOU, it's your mind driving you - it's the thought process that you have to have to endure relentless amounts of work (that you know is going to pay off, perhaps not immediately).

External motivation is for those requiring some form of instant gratification, unfortunately if you want to achieve anything worthwhile you're going to have to learn to live without the instant reward or payout.

So how do you keep yourself motivated and accountable when you're chasing an audacious goal?

When you're 80lbs overweight how can you see it through to see that you lose all that weight without giving up and quitting like the vast majority of others would?

In order to stay true to the course I have one method that I always implement and it works a treat.

Set a date.

A future event that's 30 - 90 days away is the #1 way I have found to keep the fire alive and keep the accountability and motivation flowing through my veins.

The event could be anything, as long as it's important to you and relevant to the goal you're attempting to achieve.

Here's some examples depending on what your end goal is:

Fitness

  • Getting into the best shape of your life for a fitness photoshoot that's scheduled for 30 - 90 days away
  • Losing weight for a family reunion
  • Improving your squat or deadlift to compete in a local powerlifting competition
  •  Reaching single digit body fat for the first day of summer

Business

  • Getting 1,000 visitors to your website per day by July 1st (or a significant, yet realistic timeframe for you)
  • Struggling to write that book of yours? Write 2,000 words per day because you've scheduled the draft to go to your editor on April 1st

At The End Of The Day

Like I said, it doesn't even really matter WHAT the event is as long as it's relevant - the harder it is to back out of the event the better (if there's an option to prepay in full make sure you do it.)

You don't want to lose your hard earned cash and you don't want to show up like an idiot that hasn't achieved the 1 goal they set out to.

That should be more than enough motivation to get you chasing your goal relentlessly at mach speed.

I’m SJ. I’m a fitness enthusiast and published author. I transformed my body from a skinny fat 135lbs with 18% body fat to a solid 192lbs at 8% body fat. I became qualified in a field I was passionate about. I founded several online businesses that allow me to pursue ideas and projects in my life that I am passionate about without having to constantly worry about money. I published several eBooks explaining the training and dieting techniques I used to achieve the body I have today. I learnt a plethora of new information on dieting and fitness by reading and applying what I read, to find out what does work and what doesn’t work, because as I’m sure you’ve noticed the health and fitness industry is full of non-sense claims and BS. I found out what was true and what worked for me and applied that knowledge. And you bet I had fun during the whole process.
